We are a small, friendly congregation blessed with a beautiful church and one of the best church halls in Dundee set in a well cared-for garden which has won a number of awards in the Broughty Ferry in Bloom annual garden competition.
Sunday Morning Services at 11.00 am are supported by an excellent choir and church organ. All are welcome and children can join our lively Young Explorers group. There is a creche for babies and children under 4 years of age.
A number of interesting and friendly clubs and groups are available during the week - details of which can be found at on our website at the Adult and Youth Groups pages.
The Church is situated at the corner of Westfield Road and Brook Street, at the West End of Broughty Ferry and was formed by the union of St. Stephen's Church and the West United Free Church, Broughty Ferry on the 8th November 1962.
St Stephen's is the younger of two churches united in 1962 as St Stephen's & West Church. It was started in 1869 by a group of businessmen who decided that a new church was needed in the west end of Broughty Ferry. The village was expanding and the existing parish church, St Aidan's could not cope with the growing number of worshippers.
After obtaining permission from Dundee Presbytery a site was acquired, plans drawn up and a builder selected. Completion of the fabric was followed by negotiations over
parish boundaries and an endowment to secure a minimum stipend was set up.
On 14th July 1875 the new parish church of St Stephen's was established to service the area now known as West Ferry with over 500 members on the roll. A hall was built in the mid 1890's and over the years improvements and additions were made to the original church building.
These additions included the installation of magnificent stained glass windows, chiefly the work of Sir Edward Burne-Jones. The three large chancel windows were replaced in 1893 by Sir Edward's "The Stoning of St Stephen". Over the next 20 years the remaining windows were also transformed by his designs giving us a unique collection of the finest art of its kind,
St Stephen's, linked with the West Church in 1962, has played a significant role in the spiritual life of the West Ferry and was deeply shocked when the church spire was hit by lightning in May 2010. Many weeks of discussions, planning and negotiations followed but on 25th October the final phase of repairing the steeple began.
We are now determined to continue God's work in and outside the church and encourage as many people as possible to make use of our beautiful sanctuary and so ensure its future for years to come.

Web and Facebook
Please remember to give Iain and Juliet news and information about what is going on in and around our church and of course to keep it up to date. We are delighted that we have so many hits from interested people, so let's make it as interesting and informative as we can so they keep coming back for more! I was delighted to see that Juliet had a request for a church magazine recently as a result of her posting on Facebook. Also remember the weekly Intimations on a Sunday are there to keep people informed.
